It is due to DDOS attack on our DNS server which aggressively attack random domains in the system, creating massive amount of traffic to the network. The load occupied 95% of the firewall traffic causes limited connections allowed to the system. This surge in traffic causes only 5 percent of traffic to be able to reach our servers in the initial stage. This sudden surge in traffic significantly reduce connection access, which explains why you may experience difficulty accessing our system.
Our engineers took immediate action and worked deliberately to reduce the incoming DDOS traffic and was successfully to reduce the impact to 50% at 24 April 2009 07:00 AM. However, the attacker notice the effect of the attack and intensified the attack at 24 April 2009 08:30 AM causing the server to be inaccessible again.
However, at 24 April 10.30 am UTC+8, our engineers has successfully contained the attack, and you should now be able to resume domain registration via API or access to your reseller panel. As the attack is on-going, Webnic has decided to temporarily disable DNS hosting service, Email forwarding and URL forwarding.
