An HP Field Support Engineer, or HP Field Service Engineer, installs, configures, and fixes servers and systems. The individual devises, analyzes, schedules, and adjusts systems and servers of an organization. The engineer develops and assesses standards and methods for determining the performance of systems and servers.

The individual has to have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and will most often work independently. They need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as their job role involves interacting effectively, but diplomatically, with members of senior and middle management within an organization. Engineers also need to communicate with clients and technicians to identify problems and resolve them.

They should be ready to work flexible hours and be available when the need arises.
